Happy Canada day... Mario?

Why is Scotty Playing with a pink little gameboy looking thing?

OH yes, because I let him borrow it haha :)

Thats right! Mario will be joining us for Canada Day, that is Mario and A NEW NINTENDO DS LITE! Scotty aka mister awesome himself went out to do groceries :) and brought me back a really cool treat! We only have one game, but its really all we need for the next long while. Its the Mario Brothers game for DS, sooo coool. I can't write too much more, I've only played ONE level, and Scotty (as you saw in the picture) is beating the rest of all the levels without me! If you have one, or knwo someone who does, maybe leave us some suggestions for games to save for?

Oh Maggie, How I love thee!

Searching around online for dresses is my newest evening activity, as I'm starting to feel the stress of picking and SETTLING on some ideas for the wedding. I think proper planning in advance is going to help us have a clear idea for budget and make things easier to handle as the big day draws nearer. I am realistically considering all options at this point with a level head and weighing the pros/cons carefully. So I have begun tucking away money in case my dream dress pops up at an unexpected price. In my adventuring, I stumbled across this LOVELY site of Maggie Sottero Dresses. All I can say is wow. To save you the trouble of searching around, I'll post my absolute favs! Be sure to check out the website tho, they are breathtaking!

This one is called Brielle! (I love that they have real names, makes it easier to remember my favs.) She's new so there isn't any real life photos of her yet.

This is Brielle from the back!

This is Victoriana. wowsers I know!

This is Victoriana in REAL life, a lovely feature of their website.

This is Capri Royale! She is stunning...

.. But look at her in real life! wow

I don't think I've ever come across dresses that look BETTER in real life than on the models. It is a promising feeling for certain! I have contacted stores in Truro and Hfx about the styles/dseigner, it has left me feeling excited and encouraged.

Save The Date!

Oh Its a wedding bonanza! I have been hit with wedding planning fever, as I have only 387 days until the wedding. Haha you may wonder how I know that, and let me tell you, I have hit gold. Mom sent me a link to a blog that led to the bloggers "wedding website" created by theknot.com. The Knot offers a service that allows you to do pretty much ALL of your planning online. How incredible is that? So I spent last night creating this website :)

The address is: www.theknot.com/ourwedding/MichellePeters&ScottMatheson

The Password is 'guineapig'

Here you can read about us and our wedding details :). Bookmark it and check often, as I'm going to update it as soon as I can!

Zoom and Tubes!

So our little ones have stopped being shy/nervous and entered a new stage in their life : Active and curious!! In hopes to satisfy their thirst for adventure we've added the second level of their cage and ramp! Now that both of them are zooming up and down the ramp with expertise (see video!) we added a new challenge for them, tubes! I got the idea first of all off of a lovely webpage called www.guineapigcages.com that discusses everything under the sun about the guinea pig lifestyle! Then when we were searching for a ramp at Central Building Supplies, we spotted these tubes! Tonight we went back to get them, and as you can see in the pics, the piggies dooo love them :) (excuse the poop!)

The videos are a little dark! I'll know for next time to turn on more lights! Sorry!

zoom zoooom! Starbuck learns to handle the ramp!

we love our new play toys they smell so interesting!

Pig Palace and Marvellous Melts

So after the pigs big weekend adventure in Moncton, they were ready for to try out their second level of their cage. It is HUGE for them, as they are still quite small, but with a little encouragement they really took to the addition to their palace. The second floor is connected to the ground level by a large but shallow ramp. The problem we were encountering was that the ramp was too slippery for them to handle. Fortunately we found a solution, the grippy stuff that lines drawers so things don't slide around. (hmm what is that stuff called) anyway, the pigs adore the grippy plastic, and run as fast as they can up it. Sweetie has mastered going up and down wonderfully, but Starbuck is a little more timid and is taking her time warming up to running down the ramp, or even walking. Today she made great progress by steping onto the ramp and moving down a few inches before getting scared and running back up and patiently waiting for us to transfer her to the ground level. We are encouraging her to try, so hopefully she'll get it in a few days time.

Tonight we cleaned their cage, and after some examining of the pigs we realized they are suffering from some dry skin. As babies it is typical for them to have skin issues as they are growing, BUT we thought we'd do our best to make them comfortable. As it happens, I had prepared for this moment and bought (with the shampoo) a product called Marvellous Melts. It is a gooey cream that you massage into their hair and fur to clear up any fungal/parasitic issues while moisturizing. (you shampoo it out after letting it sit for a few minutes) It is an all natural product, and our little girls LOVED it. (although they aren't too fond of bath time)
I have a video... but i'm having a lot of trouble downloading it. arrr... so here are some pics :)

Off to the Races!

So we decided to embrace our "townie" status in Antigonish (living in town instead of on campus, and staying all year round instead of just for the school year) and join in some of the local events. Yesterday was the grand opener for the Riverside International Speedway (visible right off the highway at exit 30 ) and we were there! We bought advanced tickets a week ago, and have been getting pumped ever since. Neither of us had ever been to a race, or knew anything about them. Thankfully they hand out info books ALL about everything you could want to know about flags and racers. We showed up around 4 and got to watch the time trials and the inspections which was really cool. We did look slightly out of place, as we didn't have racing tshirts or hats, and didnt' think to bring a cooler of cold drinks or a blanket to sit on. (We will know for next time) Oh yes, and of course I was snapping photos left and right, which seemed to be a dead give away that we were first time race spectators.
Here are some of my prized photos :)

Now a little wiser to the racing world, we'll be more ready for the next one! We left a little early because we were frozen. All in all a great experience!
Ooh and of course some pictures of the bebes! And since they have been here One week + change now, we took some pics of them cuddling on the couch :).

Loving these girls 8 Days a Wheek!

Yes, Wheek. Because that is their most favourite chirp. Wheek Wheek Wheek!!

Meet Starbuck and Sweetpea, two sisters we adopted from Eastwoods Furry Friends in St. Andrews (just outside Antigonish) They spent the first month of their life with their brother and mom being cared for by Donna Eastwood. She did a wonderful job with them, as they are friendly curious and quite smart!
They have been bathed, brushed, fed, and snuggled since they arrived on Friday evening. They were born on April 21st (ish) and so they are still babies exploring their world.
They enjoy red peppers, lettuce (ALOT), fresh cherries, and baby carrots. But we are most proud to announce that they do not only communicate with each other, but Sweetpea showed Starbuck how to use the litterbox. :) Our girls are soo very smart.
Sweetpea is the boss, bigger and tougher and Starbuck is a little smaller (we think she was the runt) BUT they compliment each other well. Even in the last 2 hours we've seen Starbuck act Big as she tried to hold her own in a battle for a piece of lettuce.
Haha okay so she isn't tough yet, but her big sister is teaching her to try.
